Head Cook – 5.0 hours/day @ Desert Oasis High School (Primary Location) (Temporary for the remainder of 24-25 School Year)

 

     Job Description

  • Lead the day-to-day operations at the individual school site.
  • Place food/supply order, account for meal service and ensure adequate inventory is available.
  • Provide nutrition services to our students and staff by preparing and serving meals according to USDA, OSPI, and Health Department regulations.
  • With limited direct supervision, cooking and preparing food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel; modifying recipes to adjust for meal requirements, verifying quality and quantity of food items and supplies, and maintaining work areas in a sanitary condition.
  • Maintain online production records.
  • Oversee district snack program from ordering to reviews and production records.
  • Perform work related duties at other buildings as requested by the Food Services Director.

 

      Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduate, or GED.
  • Completion of competency skill test (Head/Asst. Cook test) with a minimum passing score of 80%.
  • Ability to accurately compute basic math functions, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain personal hygiene that meets and/or exceeds food service standards.
  • Must obtain food handlers permit within 5 days of employment and maintain current card status thereafter.
  • Ability to learn and operate a computer system with proficiency.
  • Knowledge and experience with Google applications: Gmail, Google Docs, etc.
  • Able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
  • Physically able to lift and/or move up to 30-50 pounds frequently.

  • Ability to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
  • Ability to work safely with and around hot surfaces.
  • Leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.

 

Terms of Employment

      Starting Date: January 6, 2025-June 13, 2025                                                                  

      Salary:              Per PSE CBA - Schedule A

      Hours:               Per Positions Listed Above

      Contracted Days:103 work days & 3 holidays (106 total contracted days)
